About the Album:

WILD CHILD is an amalgamation of Charlotte's most vulnerable moments and deeply personal stories. From living with anxiety to dating as a child of divorce and everything in between, Morris found ways to persevere and build new beginnings. With this project, she paints the ups and downs of life. Spun from her classic Folk/Roots foundation and burnished with the drive of modern Country, Charlotte's music embodies the storytelling of theatre as she lays it all on the line. Her first album release since moving to Music City, WILD CHILD is baked with all of the insecurity, fear, curiosity, and joy that come with growing from a wild child into a wilder woman.

Live from The Castle

From Charlotte:

In May of 2023, I decided that I wanted to do an acoustic version of my song "Your Number One". Going back to the basics, the rawness of just lyrics, melody, and guitar, felt so good, and gave me a renewed excitement in the material that we'd been working on for almost 2 years at that point. Once we lay down that track & filmed a video that felt so completely me (in nature, no shoes, nothing ornate), I realized that I needed to do this with the entire Wild Child album. And that's how Live from The Castle came to be.

In July ‘23, we set aside one day at The Castle studio, during which I, and Camden West, recorded "live" acoustic versions of the 9 remaining songs off the album, and filmed intimate, candid videos for each.

While I've put live in quotations, as we were in a studio setting as opposed to in front of an audience, the nature of the recordings truly are live. Camden & I sat across from each other in the large, open band room of The Castle, our voices & instruments mingled in the microphones placed throughout the space. We ran through each song once or twice, recorded top to bottom once or twice, and then... done. There were no edits to the audio, no patching into a spot that was perhaps less than perfect. I wanted an honest recording of each song - alluding to how things sound when I'm writing, sitting on my couch or floor with just myself, my dog, and my guitar - and that's exactly what we captured.

After recording all of the songs, we filmed videos for each in different spaces around The Castle. Again, I wanted these to feel like a snapshot into my process. I wanted to be comfortable, relaxed, and in spaces that felt authentic to me; I wanted to find the original emotions of each song that could perhaps get lost in anything larger than intimate.

For some of the songs, these videos turned out darker - almost candlelit - with a sense of fragility & vulnerability that reflect the topics. For others, the videos simply capture the joy & renewed sense of creativity that I felt as we discovered each tune in this new format.

I am excited to share this version of Wild Child with the world to give a peak into the most authentic version of myself.
